Need the bats to get going in Chicago
I just arrived home and turned on the game to see the Redbirds losing 5·1 to Chicago. Not good. Especially because we already lost the close game yesterday. I certainly didn´t expect us to come to Chi·town and take all four, but I do know that we need to win at least 2, if not 3. I don´t know what Reyes did to give up 5 runs all in one inning, but I do know that it´s typical Reyes when he has a bad outing. He´s more likely to give up several runs in one inning than over a series of innings.
Ok, as I type this it is now 5·2. Brendan Ryan just drilled a 0·2 pitch over the left field wall for a home run. He has been really showing the power since being called up to the bigs. I don´t know what kind of contract we gave Kennedy off the top of my head, but I do know we have had a different 2nd baseman every year for the past 6 years. So perhaps Ryan can be a more feasable long term solution. The club seems to have made it clear that Aaron Miles will not be the every day 2nd baseman, no matter how much of .300 he might hit. But I don´t know how many years we gave Kennedy. I´ll look into that. (EDIT: We have control of Kennedy through the ´09 season.)
For now, hopefully the Cardinals can give Reyes the kind of run support they did the last time he pitched. It was really the only time this season they have, so they still have a lot to make up to him.
Let´s go Redbirds!
